SUMMARY:The Sei-Ki Training 2026/27
DESCRIPTION:The Sei-Ki Training is an intensive immersion year with the aim of giving participants a solid foundation in Sei-Ki.    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Sei-Ki Training has been established by Alice Whieldon in collaboration with Alexandra Gelny and Maria Kokori. \n\n\n\n\nWe have set this up in service to Sei-Ki\, students of Sei-Ki and a world in need of human touch. We think the time is right and also\, we love this work and get a lot of pleasure from sharing it. \n\n\n\n\nThe Sei-Ki Training is an intensive immersion year with the aim of giving participants a solid foundation in the work. \n\n\n\nCore elements of the Training: \n\n\n\n\nTwo Residential Workshops of 4+ days each (September and July)\n\n\n\nOne non-Residential Workshop of 5 days (February)\n\n\n\nOnline Teaching Events: 4 modules of 7 hours each\, online Book Club (8 meetings of 1.5 hours each)\, online live Exercise Sessions\n\n\n\nOnline Library: videos (exercises\, Sei-Ki sessions\, discussions)\, audio material\, written material\n\n\n\nSupervision: online supervision meetings in small groups\n\n\n\nTutorials\n\n\n\n\nLike a Sei-Ki session\, The Sei-Ki Training is dynamic and responsive and will evolve over time. \n\n\n\nOver the years\, we have noticed that people can make real progress if immersed in Sei-Ki over the course of a year.  This is long enough to give you a boost in skill and understanding but not so long that it takes the spontaneity and uniqueness out of your experience. Sei-Ki is the Way of aliveness and any training must keep that centre front. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is “beginners mind”\, so this Training is relevant to practitioners at all levels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n All the essential info on The Sei-Ki Training | Be Part of it\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please get in touch with us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nDates in person workshops:3 in person workshops:Residential 10-14 September 2026Workshop 5-9 February 2027Residential 1-5 July 2027 \n\n\n\nFor an overview of all details and dates\, check the info on the homepage and download the Calendar. \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou have done some Sei-Ki before\, at least 3 days with Alice and another 3 days with Alice\, Alexandra or Maria. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPrice: \n\n\n\nTeaching fee: EUR 3\,500.-Accommodation and food on in person workshops is not included in the fee \n\n\n\nLocation:Germany & Austria \n\n\n\nOrganizer:Sei-Ki Hub \n\n\n\n\n\n APPLY HERE\, if you already know you want to be in!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon \n\n\n\nFounder and Director of the Sei-Ki Hub and The Sei-Ki Training \n\n\nMore about Alice\n\n\n\n\n\nAlexandra Gelny \n\n\n\nCo-founder & Assistant Teacher at the Sei-Ki Hub and The Sei-Ki Training \n\n\nMore about Alexandra\n\n\n\n\n\nMaria Kokori \n\n\n\nCo-founder & Assistant Teacher at the Sei-Ki Hub and The Sei-Ki Training \n\n\nMore about Maria

SUMMARY:Sei-Ki. Life in Resonance | London
DESCRIPTION:Alice Whieldon is returning to London for a 2 day Sei-Ki Workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSei-Ki is not a technique – it is an approach to life. \n\n\n\nPerhaps it is the closest we can now get to real Zen Shiatsu. \n\n\n\n\nIn Sei-Ki\, although we work primarily with the subconscious\, the emotions and the body\, we point to the universal\, to the aspect of being human that is eternal. On a Sei-Ki workshop you will be instructed in ways to observe\, feel more deeply and develop skill in your hands. You will experience the depth of connection that is possible when we stop adding techniques and ways to diagnose. We discover what happens when we grow our attention and open to what is beyond form. Sei-Ki takes us to a place beyond ‘therapy’ to where the ordinariness of simple\, safe touch becomes a Zen discipline. \n\n\n\nThe founder of Sei-Ki\, Kishi Akinobu\, was Masunaga’s top disciple. He was a well-travelled\, influential figure in shiatsu\, working in Europe and North America since the early 1970s. He influenced many who went on to found schools all around the world. In 1980\, a satori experience transformed his work which he then called\, Sei-Ki Soho\, to mark the start of a new lineage. It is rooted in Japanese culture\, reflecting the purpose and aesthetic of the Japanese Arts. Rather than working from theory and applying techniques\, it emphasizes feeling\, experience and presence. \n\n\n\nIf you are a Shiatsu practitioner\, we invite you to come along. You do not have to abandon Shiatsu to appreciate and be inspired by Sei-Ki. You can catch a flavour of the Japanese roots of Shiatsu through the lens of Sei-Ki. \n\n\n\nAs a student of Sei-Ki\, since the Way of Touch is grounded in beginners mind\, whether you are a newcomer or old hand\, you will find much to enjoy and learn. \n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon is an experienced presenter in Sei-Ki\, Clearing and the Humanities. With her guidance\, you will explore this skilled touch therapy in a safe environment and benefit from her wide experience. \n\n\n\nAlice is the Director of Sei-Ki Hub\, founded with two friends and dedicated to furthering Sei-Ki as a profession and community. With Kishi Akinobu\, she is co-author of Sei-Ki: Life in Resonance 2011. She is also author of Clearing: the key to mindfulness mastery 2016 and teaches internationally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeaching approach\n\n\n\nDemonstration is crucial to picking up the ‘feel’\, qualities and basic form of Sei-Ki through active observation and\, where possible\, experiencing the direct touch of the instructor or assistant. \n\n\n\nPractice is central to learning Sei-Ki. Guidance in the form of kata (exercises) will be given\, as well as time to freely explore with the benefit of gentle supervision. \n\n\n\nDiscussion in the form of Q&A sessions and short talks to help students understand core principles in Sei-Ki. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor whom\n\n\n\nThis Sei-Ki workshop is open to participants with and without Sei-Ki experience. It can be an important milestone for anyone with an interest in Sei-Ki: \n\n\n\n\nfor those who have found their “home” in practicing Sei-Ki and would like to continue to pursue Sei-Ki as their Way\, as well as\n\n\n\nfor Shiatsu practitioners to gain inspiration from Sei-Ki\, and\n\n\n\nit is also a workshop for people without a professional bodywork background who are curious about Sei-Ki\, who want to strengthen their own sensitivity and who are keen to experience themselves in a new way\, also in a dialog of touch with others.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\nTimes:Friday 18 Sept. 2026 | 17.00-20.00Saturday 19 Sept. 2026 | 10.00-18.00Sunday 20 Sept. 2026 | 10.00-14.00 \nLanguage:English  \nCourse recognized as CPD for the Shiatsu Society \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: \n£ 380 / £ 350 (early bird until 15th June) 10% discount of the full price for The Sei-Ki Training graduates \nOrganizer:Sei-Ki Hub \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Sign up now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon \n\n\n\nFounder and Director of the Sei-Ki Hub and The Sei-Ki Training \n\n\n\nTeacher of this workshop \n\n\nMore about Alice\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign up for the workshop\n\n\n\nWe are happy that you’d like to participate in Alice Whieldon’s ‘Sei-Ki. SUMMARY:Doho. Emerging anew Through Movement
DESCRIPTION:A Seitai Workshop with Tsunehisa Watanabe (JP) in Vienna (AT)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this workshop(in Tsunehisa Watanabe’s words):\n\n\n\nDoho can be translated as “the principles of movement” or “the art of movement”. It is a way for learning and rehearsing life through the use of the body and its movement.  \n\n\n\n“Movement” however\, is not limited to the physical movement of muscles and bones. Breath\, energy\, awareness\, all are in constant motion\, and are considered matters of interest to the practitioner of Doho. \n\n\n\nThe practice consists of many different aspects\, much of which are exercises to awaken the senses and heighten awareness of how our bodies behave in relation to its surroundings. Some exercises are rigorous and intensely physical\, some are much subtler and involve minimal outside movement\, but all require the practitioner’s focus and inner silence. \n\n\n\nI tend to think of the exercises as riddles for the body and mind. Rather than a means to improve our health or the body’s functionality\, I see them as ways to challenge our preconceived notions\, in order to unravel — or perhaps just experience — this mystery that we call\, the “body”. \n\n\n\nWhat can emerge from this unravelling\, is something “new”\, a new experience in movement\, a new experience of “me”. \n\n\n\nWhen someone asks us what “art” or “music” or “poetry” is\, we all have different answers. Such definitions\, of course\, depend on the interpretations of each person — and everybody accepts those. Yet\, when it comes to the body\, we seem to have such limited and rigid notions about what it is\, and therefore what it can do or become. \n\n\n\nMust it be like this? \n\n\n\nWe gaze at the moon and bathe in its beauty. We hear thunder and tremble in awe. We can lose ourselves in the fragile wonder of a single flower. Why is it then\, that we don’t seem capable of experiencing the same when we meet our own bodies? If the body is an authentic phenomenon of nature itself  — then\, shouldn’t the mere act of closing our eyes and turning inwards feel just as powerful\, awesome\, and beautiful? \n\n\n\nMy body is\, nature within my reach. It is the world and I\, mixed\, and crystallized. My body is the universe touching me. Therefore\, it makes no sense for it to be unchanged from yesterday\, from moment to moment\, because all that is poured into its making is in constant flux. We are always in motion — changing\, growing\, evolving. \n\n\n\nAnyone can know these truths with certainty\, and with ease. All it takes is an open mind\, soft eyes\, and your permission to let curiosity lead the way.  \n\n\n\nThank you for listening. I hope to see you in Vienna. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTsunehisa Watanabe\n\n\n\nTsunehisa Watanabe will be our guide in this introduction to the practice of Doho. \n\n\n\n\nHe began studying Seitai and Doho in the summer of 1989\, at the age of 19\, and soon started his apprenticeship with Masako Takei Sensei and also began training under the guidance of Hiroyuki Noguchi SenseiTakei Sensei was one of the main students of Haruchika Noguchi\, the founder of Seitai (1911-1976) during the last years of his life. Hiroyuki Noguchi Sensei is the founder’s son. Tsunehisa Watanabe received his certification as a Doho instructor in 1998\, and has been teaching alongside his training ever since. \n\n\n\nHe has spent part of his life in the US. Today\, he lives in Hawaii and travels to Japan and Europe to teach. \n\n\n\nThe workshop in October will be Tsunehisa Watanabe’s first workshop in Austria. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nTimes:Friday 2 October | 5 pm – 8 pm (CET)Saturday 3 October | 9.30 am – 6 pm Sunday 4 October | 9.30 am – 5 pm  \n\n\n\nLanguage:English with translation into German \n\n\n\nParticipation fee:320 € \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho this workshop is for\n\n\n\nNo previous experiences in Doho or Seitai are needed to participate.Everyone is welcome. There is no age limit and you don’t need to be extra mobile or extra fit to participate in this experiential weekend. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t a workshop to learn a new treatment method. \n\n\n\nIt is a workshop focused on your experience in movement. \n\n\n\n\nSign up for the workshop\nWe are happy that you’d like to participate in the workshop. SUMMARY:Trauma and Happiness | through the Prism of Sei-Ki | Vienna
DESCRIPTION:Join Alice Whieldon for Sei-Ki in Vienna (expert assistance: Alexandra Gelny).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are reading this\, you are probably a touch-therapist or interested in this area. You will know\, firsthand\, that all trauma\, from deliberate abuse to ‘minor’ upsets\, shows up in concrete distortion and compromised breathing. We are well-qualified to agree with Bessel Van Der Kolk that\, The Body Keeps the Score.[1] \n\n\n\nWorking with others we also come to see that it is essential to work with our own trauma if we are to develop into practitioners who can offer real help to a variety of people. \n\n\n\nBut\, with so much recent focus on trauma\, we might find ourselves asking about the other side pain. How can we live a fulfilling life\, embracing pleasure and joy even while we are burdened with trauma in our bodies\, hearts and minds? \n\n\n\nIn Shiatsu\, Namikoshi talked of ‘mother’s touch’ and Masunaga of ‘touch with love’ as the way to meet discomfort. The founder of Sei-Ki\, Kishi Akinobu\, spoke of resonance and the importance of simple human touch. What all of them recognised is that\, when we are met with understanding that is devoid of judgement\, when we are touched with acceptance and nothing is expected in return\, then trauma naturally comes to the surface and dissolves; we find we are breathing again. \n\n\n\nBut the simple is hard to achieve. It involves letting go of what we think we know\, through disciplined surrender. It insists we hone our skill-in-touch\, tekiatsu. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is philosophy in action. It is a practical acknowledgement that trauma is the human condition\, yet not what defines us. Sei-Ki soothes and questions\, opens and dissolves\, restoring our appetite for life. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is inherently trauma-sensitive\, before we knew the term. In these three days\, we will touch on what it might mean to live with and through our wounds\, fulfilled and joyful. We will do this by developing sensitivity\, exploring our connection to universal mind through spontaneous movement andhow to become a skilled practitioner of touch. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop you will practice the basics of Sei-Ki. Since The Way of Touch is always beginners mind\, this will be valuable to old and new students alike. You will be invited to explore trauma through this lens and supported in approaching this area with more confidence. \n\n\n\n[1] Bessel van der Kolk: The Body Keeps the Score: Brain\, Mind\, and Body in the Healing of Trauma. Penguin Books\, 2015. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop will include \n\n\n\n\nDemonstrations of Sei-Ki\, the Way of Touch as training in observational ability\n\n\n\nPractice in developing greater skill in touch: working with fellow students under guidance\n\n\n\nTalks and discussion about how we can understand trauma in this work including Q&A\n\n\n\nExploration of joy and pleasure as the other side of trauma and integral to touch work\n\n\n\nWorking with receptivity as a way back to the body from dissociated states and gentle human contact as the most natural\, heart-warming response in easing distress\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor whom\n\n\n\nThis Sei-Ki workshop is open to participants with and without Sei-Ki experience. SUMMARY:Sei-Ki. Moving with the Universe | Zürich
DESCRIPTION:A three day Sei-Ki Workshop in Zürich by Alice Whieldon.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSei-Ki is a powerful therapeutic approach that came out of Shiatsu\, with the unique insights of Kishi Akinobu who imbued it with Shinto sensibilities and the purpose of the Japanese Arts. Rather than working from theory\, it is an approach that emphasizes feeling. It is a ‘unification with the mind of the universe … supported by natural vitality.’ \n\n\n\n\nThis is a long way from our usual approach to health and wellbeing\, the theories and techniques we apply in order to ‘give’ help. Sei-Ki is a discipline of surrender\, it is skill in touch. It is a container in which we invite the mind of the universe and let it show us the way. It is also a powerful life-changer for practitioner and student alike. If you dip your toes in the stream of Sei-Ki\, you will expose yourself to the way of aliveness and be challenged to question your understanding of health\, sickness\, help and cure. By doing so we risk uncovering our resistance and discomfort\, but we also stand to gain so much more\, for ourselves and those who come to us for help. \n\n\n\nNewcomers to Sei-Ki will come away with a basic appreciation of what Sei-Ki is and how it fits in the story of Shiatsu. For students with prior experience\, this is a chance to deepen your understanding. \n\n\n\nStudents will experience the qualities of Sei-Ki touch and be guided in introducing these qualities in their own touch work for personal or professional development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho it is for\n\n\n\nThis course is open to participants with or without prior experience in Sei-Ki; to shiatsu practitioners as well as anyone interested in touch-based treatment methods. \n\n\n\nTeaching approach\n\n\n\nDemonstration is crucial to picking up the ‘feel’\, qualities and basic form of Sei-Ki through active observation and\, where possible\, experiencing the direct touch of the instructor or assistant. \n\n\n\nPractice is central to learning Sei-Ki. Guidance in the form of kata (exercises) will be given\, as well as time to freely explore. There will be plenty of space for students to practice and experience this approach with the benefit of gentle supervision. \n\n\n\nDiscussion in the form of Q&A sessions and short talks to help students understand core principles in Sei-Ki\, such as: the nature of ‘help’; right timing; right place; right distance. \n\n\n\nA tutorial approach will be adopted towards the end of the workshop. Any participant looking for more personalised feedback will be invited to work with Alice or one of her assistants. \n\n\n\nTutorial Monday \n\n\n\nAlice will be offering tutorials to a limited number of 4 students on the Monday following the workshop\, from 09.00-13.00. Students will work closely with Alice who will give individual feedback and recommendations for practice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\nTimes:Friday\, 27 November 2026 | 09.30 – 18.00Saturday\, 28 November 2026 | 09.30 – 18.00Sunday\, 29 November 2026 | 10.00 – 17.00 \nLanguage: English  \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: \nCHF 780CHF 702 (SGS-member)loyalty discount if you been beforeCHF 700CHF 630 (SGS-member) \nOrganizer: Dana Martelli \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Sign up now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon \n\n\n\nFounder and Director of the Sei-Ki Hub and The Sei-Ki Training \n\n\n\nTeacher of this workshop \n\n\nMore about Alice
