DESCRIPTION:Join Alice Whieldon for Sei-Ki in Vienna (expert assistance: Alexandra Gelny).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are reading this\, you are probably a touch-therapist or interested in this area. You will know\, firsthand\, that all trauma\, from deliberate abuse to ‘minor’ upsets\, shows up in concrete distortion and compromised breathing. We are well-qualified to agree with Bessel Van Der Kolk that\, The Body Keeps the Score.[1] \n\n\n\nWorking with others we also come to see that it is essential to work with our own trauma if we are to develop into practitioners who can offer real help to a variety of people. \n\n\n\nBut\, with so much recent focus on trauma\, we might find ourselves asking about the other side pain. How can we live a fulfilling life\, embracing pleasure and joy even while we are burdened with trauma in our bodies\, hearts and minds? \n\n\n\nIn Shiatsu\, Namikoshi talked of ‘mother’s touch’ and Masunaga of ‘touch with love’ as the way to meet discomfort. The founder of Sei-Ki\, Kishi Akinobu\, spoke of resonance and the importance of simple human touch. What all of them recognised is that\, when we are met with understanding that is devoid of judgement\, when we are touched with acceptance and nothing is expected in return\, then trauma naturally comes to the surface and dissolves; we find we are breathing again. \n\n\n\nBut the simple is hard to achieve. It involves letting go of what we think we know\, through disciplined surrender. It insists we hone our skill-in-touch\, tekiatsu. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is philosophy in action. It is a practical acknowledgement that trauma is the human condition\, yet not what defines us. Sei-Ki soothes and questions\, opens and dissolves\, restoring our appetite for life. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is inherently trauma-sensitive\, before we knew the term. In these three days\, we will touch on what it might mean to live with and through our wounds\, fulfilled and joyful. We will do this by developing sensitivity\, exploring our connection to universal mind through spontaneous movement andhow to become a skilled practitioner of touch. \n\n\n\nIn this workshop you will practice the basics of Sei-Ki. Since The Way of Touch is always beginners mind\, this will be valuable to old and new students alike. Zum Beispiel: \n\n\n\n\nDiagnose und Behandlung als Einheit:Verstehe\, wie jede Berührung gleichzeitig Diagnose und Behandlung sein kann. Dabei geht es nicht um das Benennen von Dysbalancen\, sondern um das Wahrnehmen und Anerkennen der Realität im Hier und Jetzt. Entdecke\, wie wesentlich es für eine heilsame Erfahrung ist\, dass sich die empfangende Person „gesehen“ fühlt.\n\n\n\nDem Atem folgen und Raum geben:Lerne\, die Atmung der empfangenden Person zu beobachten\, ihr zu folgen und deine Berührung so zu vertiefen\, dass sie ankommt\, ohne den Raum der anderen Person einzuschränken. Wir üben\, wie du die feine Balance zwischen Tiefe und Raum geben findest.\n\n\n\nPräsenz\, sich einlassen und Grenzen:Wie können wir uns ganz auf die empfangende Person einlassen\, ohne uns selbst zu verlieren? Wir üben Aufmerksamkeit und Präsenz\, und erforschen\, was helfen kann\, bei dir zu bleiben\, klare Grenzen zu wahren und dich gleichzeitig für die Tiefe des Moments zu öffnen.\n\n\n\nSpüren und Sensibilität fördern:Mit achtsamen Übungen für unsere Selbstwahrnehmung\, Praktiken wie Katsugen Undō (Üben unserer ursprünglichen Bewegung) und viel Selbsterfahrung lernst du\, deine eigene Sensibilität zu nähren und besser in dir selbst verbunden zu sein. It is your chance to fully immerse yourself in Sei-Ki\, The Way of Touch with focus\, camaraderie and joy.\n\n\n\nAlice and Alexandra started “Sei-Ki on the Edge” in 2024 have been offering the event on an annual basis since then. The location is unique\, immersed in nature\, on a mountain (Hohe Wand) just South of Vienna – easily accessible no matter where you are travelling from.  \n\n\n\nThe residential setting of this workshop offers an opportunity for a more intense immersion into Sei-Ki and fosters community. The groups in the years so far have always been wonderfully mixed in terms of level of experience and places of origin. \n\n\n\nAkinobu Kishi\, the founder of Sei-Ki\, used to share his work in residential settings every year. Alice and Alexandra have brought back this tradition and at the same time created something new. “Sei-Ki on the Edge” offers an expertly presented event bringing all the focus\, community and journeying of the originals. \n\n\n\nA residential workshop is much more than the sum of its parts. We can swim in the Sei-Ki atmosphere\, in contact with nature\, but without dissipating it through contact with the “erveryday” world. This helps subvert the idea that it is simply a technique for health and it embeds Sei-Ki as a way of life. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki on the Edge 2027 is open to everybody with or without previous experience in Sei-Ki! It is a Zen and seminar centre of the BodhidharmaZendo Vienna and is located in the Hohe Wand Nature Park\, about an hour’s drive South of Vienna and easily accessible from Vienna main station or from Vienna airport. At just under 1\,000 metres above sea level\, the BergZendo is “enthroned” at the top of the Hohe Wand (this literally means “High Wall”)\, an impressive karst plateau in southern Lower Austria. \n\n\n\nFrom here\, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up above and into the valley. The sunrises are unique. \n\n\n\nWe practice in a beautiful\, light-filled space – a newly built and spacious practice room. \n\n\n\nAccommodation:The rooms are simple; most have a wash basin\, with shared bathrooms / showers on each of the two floors. To secure your place\, a deposit of EUR 300.- is to be paid upon receipt of the invoice\, the remaining amount is due until one month before the start of the workshop. The food needs to be paid in cash upon your arrival at BergZendo.\nCancellation: You can cancel your participation at any time. For cancellations up to one month before the start of the workshop\, we reserve the right to retain a flat-rate processing fee of EUR 150.-. For later cancellations\, the full amount (participation fee plus accommodation and food) will be due\, unless there is a waiting list and your place will be taken by someone else.\nThe workshop will only take place if there are enough registrations.
