DESCRIPTION:A three day workshop near Zurich\, Switzerland\, with Alice Whieldon MA PhD. EN/DE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpace is everywhere\, yet our experience of life is often not of spaciousness\, but contraction. This does not serve us well in Sei-Ki or other areas of life.  \n\n\n\n\nThe focus of this workshop will be on developing space: \n\n\n\n\nSpace in your touch\n\n\n\nSpaciousness in yourself\, experienced in soft expansiveness\n\n\n\nThe spaciousness of non-doing\n\n\n\nSpace between you and the client\, ma\n\n\n\nTouching space | touching life\n\n\n\n\nWe engage in a lot of doing and trying in life. We try to give clients what they want and need\, to be competent practitioners\, make a living\, get home on time and all the other ways we ‘do’ our lives. We may find flow and ease occasionally then notice ourselves locked into intense ‘doing’ again\, whether it is in washing up or trying to heal someone. \n\n\n\nThere is nothing wrong with ‘doing’ per se\, but when this mode is dominant\, we eventually tire and lose ourselves in the narratives of achievement and control. There is another way\, in which movement arises from within\, without force and effort. SUMMARY:Sei-Ki: Fundamental Touch | Graz
DESCRIPTION:This Sei-Ki workshop with Alice Whieldon is open to participants with and without Sei-Ki experience. EN/DE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSei-Ki is the Way of Touch. There are many Ways in Japanese culture\, some official\, others less so. These include Chadō\, the Way of Tea\, Budō the Way of Martial Art\, Shodō the way of calligraphy and others. \n\n\n\nA Way is a discipline in which the practitioner is committed to seeing things as they truly are. Each Way has its own character or discipline through which the practitioner works to understand the nature of reality. In Sei-Ki this discipline or character is ‘touch’. \n\n\n\nEach Way takes the practitioner back to the beginning\, back to basics in every moment. In Sei-Ki\, every touch takes us back to the fundamental question\, ‘what is it that I touch\, here\, now’. It is fundamental in being ‘beginners mind’\, in being about the essence of what is ‘touched’ and in always starting again. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki was founded by Kishi Akinobu who was Masunaga’s top student for many years. He called Sei-Ki the secret art of shiatsu. Here you will find the heart of Shiatsu\, the essence of the Way of Touch. \n\n\n\nIf you are a Shiatsu practitioner\, this will be a window into the roots of that art\, a chance to develop your touch mindfully and deepen your contact with others. But Sei-ki has also\, always\, appealed to people from a wide variety of backgrounds because it fosters creativity\, originality and contact. So the only requirement for participation is interest and an open mind. \n\n\n\nOn this workshop\, we will ask what ‘touch’ really is; how can you really ‘touch’ a person; what are we really touching…The emphasis will be on experience through practice and observation. \n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon worked closely with Kishi and co-authored Sei-Ki: Life in Resonance\, the Secret Art of Shiatsu (2011\, Kishi & Whieldon).
