DESCRIPTION:Alice Whieldon is coming to London for a 2.5 day Sei-Ki workshop.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSei-Ki is a ‘unification with the mind of the universe … supported by natural vitality.’  – Kishi Akinobu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSei-Ki is not a technique but an approach to life – emptiness in action. It is touch at its simplest and most profound. Clients experience a coming home to themselves\, releasing old tensions\, finding they can breathe again. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki takes us to a place beyond ‘therapy’ to where the ordinariness of simple human touch becomes a Zen discipline. \n\n\n\nSei-Ki is a new lineage coming out of Shiatsu. Its founder\, Kishi Akinobu\, a master of Shiatsu\, experienced a profound awakening to truth in 1980. Out of this\, Sei-Ki was born. \n\n\n\nYou do not have to be trained in Shiatsu to join us. This workshop for anyone interested in: \n\n\n\n\nDeveloping fine skills in manual therapy\n\n\n\nListening closely to how the body wants to be touched; called tekiatsu in Shiatsu\n\n\n\nExploring manual therapy as a way of life for the practitioner in addition to being a therapeutic approach for the client\n\n\n\nLearning to be more open and neutral in receiving the client\n\n\n\nDrawing from Zen to refine our understanding of what helps\n\n\n\nStilling the busy mind to see how things really are\n\n\n\n\nIf you are a Shiatsu practitioner\, we invite you to come along. You do not have to abandon Shiatsu to appreciate and be inspired by Sei-Ki. You can catch a flavour of the Japanese roots of Shiatsu through the lens of Sei-Ki. \n\n\n\nAs a student of Sei-Ki\, since the Way of Touch is grounded in beginners mind\, whether you are a newcomer or old hand\, you will find much to enjoy and learn. \n\n\n\nAlice Whieldon is an experienced presenter in Sei-Ki\, Clearing and the Humanities. With her guidance\, you will explore this skilled touch therapy in a safe environment and benefit from her wide experience. \n\n\n\nAlice is the Director of Sei-Ki Hub\, founded with two friends and dedicated to furthering Sei-Ki as a profession and community. With Kishi Akinobu\, she is co-author of Sei-Ki: Life in Resonance 2011. She is also author of Clearing: the key to mindfulness mastery 2016 and teaches internationally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeaching approach\n\n\n\nDemonstration is crucial to picking up the ‘feel’\, qualities and basic form of Sei-Ki through active observation and\, where possible\, experiencing the direct touch of the instructor or assistant. \n\n\n\nPractice is central to learning Sei-Ki. Guidance in the form of kata (exercises) will be given\, as well as time to freely explore with the benefit of gentle supervision. \n\n\n\nDiscussion in the form of Q&A sessions and short talks to help students understand core principles in Sei-Ki. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor whom\n\n\n\nThis Sei-Ki workshop is open to participants with and without Sei-Ki experience.
