Our annual Sei-Ki Residential workshop in Austria is unique in many ways.
It is your chance to fully immerse yourself in Sei-Ki, The Way of Touch with focus, camaraderie and joy.

Alice and Alexandra started “Sei-Ki on the Edge” in 2024 have been offering the event on an annual basis since then. The location is unique, immersed in nature, on a mountain (Hohe Wand) just South of Vienna – easily accessible no matter where you are travelling from.

The residential setting of this workshop offers an opportunity for a more intense immersion into Sei-Ki and fosters community. The groups in the years so far have always been wonderfully mixed in terms of level of experience and places of origin.

Akinobu Kishi, the founder of Sei-Ki, used to share his work in residential settings every year. Alice and Alexandra have brought back this tradition and at the same time created something new. “Sei-Ki on the Edge” offers an expertly presented event bringing all the focus, community and journeying of the originals.

A residential workshop is much more than the sum of its parts. We can swim in the Sei-Ki atmosphere, in contact with nature, but without dissipating it through contact with the “erveryday” world. This helps subvert the idea that it is simply a technique for health and it embeds Sei-Ki as a way of life.

Sei-Ki on the Edge 2027 is open to everybody with or without previous experience in Sei-Ki!

This Residential is for you,

if you have been exploring Sei-Ki for some time and enjoy immersing yourself into this work in a Residential setting, or
if you have been curious about Sei-Ki and feel that now is the right time to dive right in

This workshop might be a challenge, perhaps financially and in terms of time, but primarily as a personal process of cleansing that can, at times, bring up resistance and discomfort. But the benefits can be huge. These include:

developing skill in touch as a personal path or an ethical, satisfying way of working with others
becoming more true to who you are and living from that place; becoming better at relating to others
It is also a few days with like-minded people in stunning natural surroundings, refreshing yourself, sharing delicious meals, moving, laughing, dancing and exploring. It is a chance to breathe again, more freely and with joy.

Prerequisites for participating:
We welcome a range of experience and ability and aim at providing the best learning experience for everyone.
Sei-Ki on the Edge is open to beginners as well as experienced practitioners who feel drawn to the work and feel ready for an immersive and intense Sei-Ki experience with Alice Whieldon and Alexandra Gelny in a Residential setting.
No previous experience of Sei-Ki is required to participate.
You don’t need to be a practitioner of shiatsu or of any other manual therapy for participating.

The location…

The BergZendo (or ‘Hyakujōgan Zendo’) is a place of peace and strength, immersed within beautiful nature. It is a Zen and seminar centre of the BodhidharmaZendo Vienna and is located in the Hohe Wand Nature Park, about an hour’s drive South of Vienna and easily accessible from Vienna main station or from Vienna airport.
At just under 1,000 metres above sea level, the BergZendo is “enthroned” at the top of the Hohe Wand (this literally means “High Wall”), an impressive karst plateau in southern Lower Austria.

From here, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up above and into the valley. The sunrises are unique.

We practice in a beautiful, light-filled space – a newly built and spacious practice room.

Accommodation:
The rooms are simple; most have a wash basin, with shared bathrooms / showers on each of the two floors.
Room availability is limited; sharing in a double room might be necessary. You can express your wish for a single room when signing up, but we will only be able to confirm single rooms about a week before the workshop. Single rooms will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Cost for sharing in a double room: EUR 46.- per night per person (= 188.- for 4 nights)*
In a single room: EUR 56.- per night per person (= 224.- for 4 nights)*

This special place in nature will support us to fully engage with what is, with our senses, with ourselves and with each other. We are happy to offer you this space for the Sei-Ki Residential and are very grateful to BodhidharmaZendo Vienna for their hospitality.

TERMS*
After your registration, you will receive a confirmation. You will then receive an invoice for the workshop fee and cost for the room. To secure your place, a deposit of EUR 300.- is to be paid upon receipt of the invoice, the remaining amount is due until one month before the start of the workshop. The food needs to be paid in cash upon your arrival at BergZendo. Cancellation: You can cancel your participation at any time. For cancellations up to one month before the start of the workshop, we reserve the right to retain a flat-rate processing fee of EUR 150.-. For later cancellations, the full amount (participation fee plus accommodation and food) will be due, unless there is a waiting list and your place will be taken by someone else. The workshop will only take place if there are enough registrations. If we cancel a workshop, you will receive a full refund of the course fees you have paid.
